Description:
This is a gorgeous 90-inch museum-quality replica of the HMS Sovereign of the Seas, the legendary first-rate sovereign of the seas ship that served the British Royal Navy for more than 50 years in the 1600s. This is an "Exclusive Edition," where the model has a unique serial number etched into the hull, allowing us to identify the production date, materials used, and all other production details of the ship model.
Master craftsmen, using historical photographs, drawings, and original plans, meticulously handcraft each HMS Sovereign of the Seas model from scratch. Built to scale with premium woods such as western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany, these models are 100% hand-built using the traditional plank-on-frame method—just like the construction of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to complete and passes through a rigorous quality control process before leaving the workshop.
This magnificent XL model showcases three decks, three rows of cannons on each side, and an intricately designed bowsprit decorated with brass statues and ornaments. The three large masts are securely rigged with painstakingly hand-knotted lines, while each yard carries a hand-stitched linen sail. On deck, you’ll find metal cannons, wooden cabins, authentic lifeboats, and numerous handcrafted ornaments. The stern features an exquisitely detailed admiral’s quarter with brass statues, lanterns, and finely crafted decorations.
Resting on a solid wood base with a brass nameplate, this HMS Sovereign of the Seas model is more than a collector’s item—it’s a stunning centerpiece for a museum, home, and the perfect gift for maritime enthusiasts.
History:
The HMS Sovereign of the Seas was one of the most magnificent and iconic warships of the 17th century. Commissioned by King Charles I of England and launched in 1637, the Sovereign of the Seas ship symbolized the might and prestige of the English Royal Navy. Designed by master shipbuilder Phineas Pett, she was the first three-decked warship ever constructed, setting a new standard for naval architecture at the time.
Lavishly decorated with gilded carvings and armed with over 100 cannons, the HMS Sovereign of the Seas was not only a vessel of war but also a floating statement of royal power. Her size and strength made her a dominant force during England’s naval expansion, and she played a crucial role in asserting English influence over the seas. Throughout her service, she was involved in several key conflicts, including the Anglo-Dutch Wars, where her firepower and commanding presence helped secure England’s maritime interests.
Over the decades, the ship underwent modifications and refittings, reflecting the evolving needs of naval warfare. She remained in service under different names, including Royal Sovereign, until she was tragically destroyed by fire in 1697. Despite her loss, the HMS Sovereign of the Seas left a lasting legacy as a pioneer of naval engineering and a symbol of England’s naval supremacy.
