Our Atlantic Yacht model is scratched built using plank on frame from cherry wood and coated with clear varnished. The shines on the hull is truly beautiful. Pure wooden ornaments such as: wooden life boats, wooden bunkers, main masts with fabric sails and detailed stitching, all rigging are matching colors, metal anchors, metal propeller, many golden metal rings around the hull of the yacht, and many more. We absolutely use no plastic parts, only high quality wood and metal. This model is completely hand built by skillful and creative master craftsmen; you will be amazed at how real it looks. Our Atlantic Yacht model was built according to scale through original plans, pictures and drawings. The masts are fold flat down for shipping and has instruction guide how to set it up

History:

The three-masted topsail schooner Atlantic was one of twelve vessels which competed for the 1905 Emperor’s Cup, a prize put up by Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm for a race between New York and the Lizard (the extreme tip of Cornwall). Atlantic won the cup by achieving a time of twelve days and four hours. In one 24-hour period she ran 348 nautical miles. She was taken up by the US Navy in both world wars and was eventually acquired by the US Coast Guard Academy. Although the Atlantic was built as a racing craft, she had a stateroom accommodation for seven people.

Comment: Beautiful statement piece to have in your home! We wanted something unique and used it in place of a guest book at our costal-themed wedding. It is now filled with names written on the sails, and is beautiful. I had my father put it together, so I can’t attest to how the set up was. The bow has a piece of wood that the sails are connected to that inserts into the hull. You can see in the photo that it must have popped out at some point, and is leaning up against the hull. This likely happened when it was transported to our venue, but it is easy to pop back into place- just beware that this can happen. It is very well-made and we received countless compliments! Gorgeous, and we will enjoy this in our home for many years to come!

Comment: Love this boat! The quality is excellent! The "directions" include are lacking, but you can figure it out, the rigging is fairly simple.

Comment: This is a really beautiful model. The first one I ordered was missing a pin from the mast to the deck. I called Amazon and the gentleman I spoke with was extremely helpful and sent out a replacement. This one arrived a few days ago and it is perfect. It arrives with the mast, boom and sails down. It's a little challenging if you have zero knowledge about sail boats, but you can do it with a little patience and common sense. The directions are not at all helpful and could use serious improvement. They ship a tube of liquid which is not labeled nor described in the directions. I was left to assume that it was glue. You can see in the photo, that I have taped the "ropes" in place while the mast glue dries. I will have to slip knot all loose "ropes". I give the directions 2 stars (barely helpful) but the model is a beautiful 5 stars. I'm very happy with this model and Amazons service.
