Description:
The Ninigret is a lean and athletic utility cruiser, instantly recognizable by its sharp entry, flared bow, and purposeful open layout. Designed with a deep, protected cockpit and a high-efficiency hull, it offers a secure and dry environment for offshore fishing or coastal island hopping. Its aesthetic is one of 'rugged refinement'-emphasizing functional beauty, heavy-duty hardware, and the natural strength of high-grade wood.
Our workshop builds faithful recreations using premium marine Mahogany, Western Red Cedar, and Teak-reinforced with fiberglass cloth and sealed with high-grade marine epoxy. Each boat is handcrafted using authentic lapstrake (clinker) methods, with each plank meticulously fitted and finished with multiple coats of marine spar varnish to achieve deep gloss and long-lasting protection. The interior is updated with modern marine-grade vinyls while retaining the period-correct aesthetic and polished hardware. Typical build time ranges from 4-6 months depending on customization.

History:
The Ninigret is a legendary icon of the New England 'bass boat' tradition, originally designed by the famed John Atkin. Born from the demanding waters of Rhode Island's Ninigret Pond, this model was refined to be a fast, seaworthy, and incredibly efficient open cruiser. It represents the perfect marriage of a traditional workboat's toughness with a recreational boat's speed and agility.
Celebrated for its 'giant-killer' performance, the Ninigret was the preferred choice for boaters who needed to cover long distances in open water using modest horsepower. Unlike heavy, fuel-hungry cruisers, the Ninigret's hull is a masterpiece of efficiency, capable of reaching impressive speeds with small outboard engines. This legacy of practical, high-performance design has made the Ninigret a cult classic for those who value efficiency, seaworthiness, and a clean, purposeful aesthetic.
