Description:
Clione - Double-Ended Cruising Ketch
The Clione is a robust double-ended cruising yacht designed for long-distance voyaging and comfortable life aboard. Measuring 34'7? overall with a 30-foot waterline and a generous 10'4? beam, the design emphasizes seaworthiness, balance, and practical cruising comfort. With a moderate 4'10? draft, Clione is capable of entering many smaller harbors and anchorages while still maintaining excellent windward ability. Her classic double-ender hull form provides smooth motion at sea and dependable handling in rough conditions, making her well suited for extended coastal cruising or offshore passages.
Our workshop faithfully recreates this classic cruising yacht using premium marine materials-including Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, Teak, and high-grade marine plywood reinforced with U.S.-made Hexcel fiberglass cloth, sealed with marine epoxy and finished with System Three marine spar varnish. Each hull is carefully handcrafted to preserve the elegant traditional lines while ensuring modern structural reliability. The heavy iron keel, weighing approximately 6,500 lbs, contributes to exceptional stability and offshore capability. Typical build time ranges from 4-6 months, depending on customization and finishing specifications.
Clients may customize interior layout, wood combinations, rigging details, deck fittings, and protective finishes-allowing each Clione to reflect personal cruising preferences and aesthetic choices.

History:
The Clione is a delicate icon of maritime elegance, inspired by the 'sea angels' of the cold northern oceans. Born from the tradition of high-end yacht tenders and rowing skiffs, the Clione was refined to be the ultimate accessory for a larger mothership or a standalone piece of art for quiet lake rowing. It represents the purest form of boatbuilding-where weight, balance, and hydrodynamics are perfectly tuned to create a vessel that feels alive in the water.
Celebrated for its feather-light handling and effortless glide, the Clione was the preferred choice for those who valued the quiet intimacy of rowing or low-horsepower electric cruising. Unlike larger, heavy-set utilities, the Clione's lapstrake design is optimized for efficiency, allowing it to slice through the water with almost zero wake. This legacy of grace and minimalist beauty has made the Clione a beloved name for those who appreciate the 'poetry of motion' in wooden boating.
