Description:

The Albury Runabout 19ft is a refined coastal skiff inspired by the legendary island-built boats of the Bahamas, combining shallow-draft efficiency with confident offshore capability. With a length overall of 19' 7? and a generous beam of 6' 10?, this runabout delivers excellent stability, smooth planing performance, and a comfortable deck layout suited for fishing, cruising, or family outings.

Its 1' 1? draft allows access to shallow flats, tidal creeks, and nearshore waters, while the well-balanced hull form ensures a soft, dry ride in light to moderate chop. With an approximate displacement of 2,400 lbs, the boat maintains solid tracking and structural strength without sacrificing responsiveness.

Our workshop faithfully recreates this classic runabout using premium marine timbers such as Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, and Teak. The wooden hull is reinforced with fiberglass cloth and sealed with high-quality marine epoxy for long-term durability and moisture resistance. Finished with multiple coats of System Three marine spar varnish or premium marine paint, each vessel reflects meticulous craftsmanship and timeless nautical elegance.

Designed for versatility, the Albury Runabout accommodates an outboard engine ranging from 40 to 120 horsepower, providing flexible performance-from economical cruising to spirited planing speeds. The open cockpit layout enhances accessibility and movement, making it practical for day trips, coastal exploration, or light sport fishing.

Blending island heritage styling with modern marine construction, the Albury Runabout 19' 7? offers a harmonious balance of shallow-water access, dependable performance, and handcrafted wooden beauty-ideal for discerning boaters who value both tradition and function.

History:

The Albury Runabout traces its origins to the boatbuilding heritage of the Albury family in Man-O-War Cay, Abaco, in the Bahamas. For generations, the Albury name has been closely associated with handcrafted wooden boats designed for island waters-boats that needed to be fast, seaworthy, shallow-draft, and reliable in unpredictable coastal conditions.

The early Albury boats were built primarily for fishing and transportation between islands. Their hull shape evolved specifically for the shallow, coral-rich waters of the Bahamas. A fine entry forward, moderate flare, and efficient running surface allowed these boats to cut cleanly through chop while remaining stable at rest. The result was a practical skiff that combined speed with durability-ideal for both work and family use.

Over time, the Albury Runabout became known for its smooth ride in rough coastal conditions despite its relatively modest size. The design philosophy emphasized balance: lightweight yet strong construction, shallow draft without sacrificing handling, and clean, timeless lines. As fiberglass construction gained popularity in the mid-20th century, many Albury models transitioned from traditional wood to modern composite builds, expanding their reach beyond the Bahamas into the United States and international markets.

Today, the Albury Runabout remains a respected name among boating enthusiasts. It represents a blend of island heritage and refined performance-rooted in traditional craftsmanship but adapted to modern recreational boating standards.
