Description:
The Riva Scoiattolo 14’ is a charming and elegant small runabout that reflects the early heritage of Riva, one of Italy’s most prestigious boatbuilders. Compact yet refined, the Scoiattolo was originally designed as an accessible leisure boat, offering smooth handling and timeless style in a smaller format while maintaining the unmistakable Riva character.
Our workshop recreates the Riva Scoiattolo 14’ as a full-scale, custom-made replica, handcrafted using premium materials such as Mahogany, Teak, Western Red Cedar, and US -made Hexcel fiberglass with System Three marine spar varnish. Built with traditional plank-on-frame construction, each replica requires months of skilled craftsmanship and careful attention to detail. Clients may fully customize dimensions, wood selection, deck layout, upholstery, finishes, and personalized details to suit their preferences.
Defined by its clean lines, gentle sheer, and open cockpit layout, the Scoiattolo 14’ offers a warm and inviting appearance. The rich mahogany planking, signature deck detailing, and deep high-gloss varnish highlight the boat’s artisanal quality. Despite its compact size, the Scoiattolo delivers a refined boating experience, making it ideal for relaxed cruising, lakeside use, or as a collectible display piece that celebrates classic Italian design.

History:
The Riva Scoiattolo was introduced in the early years of Carlo Riva’s leadership, during a period when Riva was transitioning from traditional wooden boats to becoming an international symbol of Italian luxury. The Scoiattolo was conceived as a small, practical runabout that could introduce new owners to the Riva lifestyle without compromising craftsmanship or elegance.
Produced in limited numbers, the Scoiattolo gained appreciation for its simplicity, reliability, and refined proportions. It reflected Riva’s philosophy of blending functional design with meticulous woodworking, setting the foundation for later iconic models such as the Ariston and Aquarama.
Today, original Scoiattolo boats are rare and highly sought after by collectors. Custom-made replicas preserve the spirit of this early Riva classic, allowing modern enthusiasts to enjoy its timeless design while benefiting from updated construction methods and personalized features.
