History:
Commissioned in 2003, the USCGC Fir (WLB-213) is part of the Juniper-class fleet of buoy tenders, serving the U.S. Coast Guard's mission to maintain navigational aids and ensure safe maritime travel. Operating in the Pacific Northwest, the Fir is stationed in the Puget Sound region and plays a key role in keeping waterways safe and efficient for shipping and fishing vessels.
The Fir is equipped with the latest technology, including a Dynamic Positioning System, and its hull is reinforced to handle ice-breaking conditions. This allows the vessel to serve in a variety of conditions, whether maintaining buoys, conducting search-and-rescue operations, or providing environmental protection.
Over the years, the Fir has been involved in various environmental response missions, including oil spill containment, and continues to be a reliable vessel in the Coast Guard’s fleet.
