History:

Commissioned in 1972, USCGC Jarvis was named for Captain David H. Jarvis, a Coast Guard hero known for the Overland Relief Expedition. Jarvis served primarily in the Pacific, conducting fisheries enforcement, search-and-rescue operations, and drug interdiction.

Decommissioned in 2012, Jarvis was transferred to the Bangladesh Navy, where it operates as BNS Somudra Joy, continuing its legacy of maritime service.
