History:

Commissioned in 1968, USCGC Boutwell was named after George S. Boutwell, a former Treasury Secretary. The cutter played a significant role in enforcing maritime laws and conducting search-and-rescue missions. During the Vietnam War, Boutwell supported naval operations as part of Operation Market Time.

In peacetime, Boutwell excelled in counter-drug operations, including several high-profile narcotics seizures. After being decommissioned in 2016, the cutter was transferred to the Philippine Navy, continuing its service as BRP Andres Bonifacio.
