History:

The USCGC Cape Porpoise served as a buoy tender in the U.S. Coast Guard, primarily along the East Coast. Commissioned in the 1970s, this vessel was tasked with maintaining critical navigational aids and providing assistance in search-and-rescue operations. Cape Porpoise was also heavily involved in environmental protection efforts, particularly in response to oil spills.
