History:

Commissioned in 1972, USCGC John Midgett was named after Chief Warrant Officer John Allen Midgett, a Coast Guard hero. Known for its versatility, the cutter excelled in fisheries enforcement and drug interdiction in the Pacific.

Decommissioned in 2020, John Midgett was transferred to the Vietnam Coast Guard, where it serves as CSB 8021, furthering Vietnam’s maritime capabilities.
