History:

Named after Admiral Russell R. Waesche, the longest-serving Commandant of the Coast Guard, USCGC Waesche was commissioned in 2010 as the second Legend-class NSC. Its advanced systems enable it to perform diverse missions, including disaster response, law enforcement, and homeland security. One of its early missions included participating in joint operations to combat human trafficking and drug smuggling in the Pacific.

Waesche has also been involved in environmental protection and search-and-rescue missions.
