Chris Crafts were first produce in the 1910’s as high end powerboats. Throughout the years, Chris Craft became the synonymous boating. It is available as a FULLY ASSEMBLED model ready to be proudly display.
Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop.
This Chris Runabout has hand stitched brown leather interior. The gauges have detailed lettering to feature a realistic look. All the ornaments on the ship are made out metal to make the boat really stand out. There are two flags that represent the Chris Craft heritage.
This model comes with a wooden stand. It’ll make a perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast, or passionate collector.
History:
Founded by Christopher Columbus Smith around the 1920s, Chris Craft Co. still stands as a leader in producing high-powered, luxurious leisure boats. Since then, the company has produced several different versions successively, such as: the 1942 Chris Craft Special Runabout, the 1949 Chris Craft Runabout, and the 1957 Chris Craft Runabout. The quality of his models was tested through competitive speedboat racing, and the Christ Craft Runabout superiority rang true as the boats consistently proved victorious.
During the era of prohibition, speedboat racing was embraced by gamblers, industrialists, and mobsters. These men readily financed the high-powered designs of craftsmen such as Christopher Columbus Smith, John L. Hacker, and George Crouch. As Smith’s boats started to receive awards such as the coveted Gold Cup of the American Power Boat Association, the Chris Craft name started to become a star among nautical enthusiasts. He continued to thrive in the speedboat competitions and his string of victories further accelerated the explosion of his company’s success.

Our Chris Craft Runabout model was handcrafted from mahogany & western red cedar. The hull was constructed using plank on frame method. Each strip of exotic wood was carefully joined together. This model was completely hand built to spec by skillful and creative master craftsmen. You will be amazed at how real it looks. On the ship, you will find a variety of beautiful handcrafted brass fittings such as: front windshield frame, ring gauges, steering wheel, horns, lights, propeller, flag pole and many more. The leather seatings were carefully stitched like real. This model comes with a detachable wooden stand and is ready for display.
